On the problem of regularities of formation of Proterozoic iron­oxide­rare earth (with copper, uranium and gold) deposits such type as Olympic Dam – Bayan Obo

The article considers a unique type of ore deposits, which are often described with the epithet “unusual” and analogues of which are absent in Russia. According to the literature, it describes two deposits related to morphological antipodes – the disconcordant Olympic Dam and the concordant (stratiform) Bayan Obo. Both deposits belong to the same type of Proterozoic iron­oxide­rare earth deposits (with copper, uranium and gold). It is emphasized that this type of ore mineralization has a possible relationship with mantle sources and fluid­explosive processes.
