Tatiana Tolmacheva graduated from Leningrad State University majored in geological surveying and exploration of mineral deposits.
She has been working at VSEGEI since 1987 in the Department of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, since 2001, in the Department of Stratigraphy and Paleontology, and since 2015, she is the Scientific Secretary of FGBU VSEGEI. She defended her candidate thesis in 1997; in 2002, she earned Ph.D. at the University of Uppsala (Sweden), and in 2014 defended her thesis for the degree of doctor in geological and mineralogical sciences.
Ms. Tolmacheva is a specialist in stratigraphy of Lower Paleozoic sediments of Russia and Kazakhstan, biostratigraphy, biogeography, paleoecology and systematics of Cambrian and Ordovician conodonts. Author of 106 publications (according to RSCI), one personal monograph.
Deputy Editor-in-chief of the journal Regional Geology and Metallogeny; member of the Editorial Board of the journal Stratigraphy. Geological Correlation”; since 2016, voting member of the Subcommission on Ordovician Stratigraphy of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS); since 2013, deputy chairperson of the Commission on the Ordovician and Silurian Systems of the Interdepartmental Stratigraphic Committee (ISC); since 2015, chairperson of the Commission on Regional Stratigraphic Charts of the ISC; since 2017, deputy chairperson of the ISC.
