Ultra Low Level Liquid Scintillation Spectrometer Quantulus 1220
The Quantulus is a complete liquid scintillation counting system for the quantitative measurement of extremely low levels of alpha and beta activity.
Application areas include radiocarbon dating, enviromental studies and hydrology, monitoring of enviromental health, geophisical investigations as well as other types of work in which tracers are recovered at very low levels.
Various radionuclides are of importance in monitoring the safety of food and surroundings. Typical of these are 90Sr and 137Cs. As a result of its chemical similarity to calcium it is retained and accumulated in bones. Quantulus is ideal for the detection and monitoring of this nuclides. Also it is possible to detect tritium (up to natural concentration, 1-5 Bq/l) in water. Efficiency: 66% (tritium), 95% (carbon).
With both passive and active shielding, the Quantulus employs a universal background reduction system which is optimized according to the application of the instrument. Complete analysis of the background signal enables the stability of the shielding to be monitored.
The system includes PC software to allow complete data processing and instrument controlling.
